The Dominos Band

Joe Abene (Lead Vocals and Manager)

Joe has been the frontman for the Dominos since the band was formed in 1992.  His ability to capture the audience with a rich soulful voice is one of the bands greatest attributes, and his ability to "read" the crowd to call the right songs guarantees a great time for the audience.  Joe's vocal range and abilities as a singer make him one of the very best in the surrounding area. His influences include Joe Cocker, Percy Sledge, Otis Redding, and many more.  Joe also manages the group and is the driving force behind The Dominos.

Charlene Kelly (Lead Vocals)

Charlene began singing in local area gospel groups and had the desire to return to the stage.  Charlene studied theatre and voice in Massachusetts.  She also performed with an amateur theatre company of Fats Wallers' "Ain't Misbehaving" in Denver and Omaha. That company performed in an amateur theatre competition in Japan and won the Gold for the United States.  Charlene's unique chemistry and commitment to pleasing the audience draws rave reviews and creates a complete rhythm and blues vocal experience.  Her influences include Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Irma Thomas, and many more.  If you see any of our performances, you will know that Charlene likes to dance.

Terry King (Guitar)

Terry played guitar with Deja Vu from Hammond La from 1987-1991.  While on a cruise Terry wanted to enter a talent contest, so he asked fellow Allstate agent Joe Abene to sing while Terry played guitar.  As one of the founding members of the band in 1992, he has played an important role not only as the lead guitarist, but also in keeping the band busy and going strong.

Jerrell Grice (Keyboards)

Jerrell, along with Terry and Joe, is one of the founding members of the Dominos.  His musical influence from the sixties and seventies are what provide the unique B3 organ and Rhodes piano sounds.  Jerrell is also a talented bass player with many years of experience playing all styles of music.

John Rothermel (Bass)

John is a multi-talented musician who plays both guitar and bass.  John came on the scene with The Dominos several years ago (has to be 10 or more) as the band was in need of a pure R&B sound and feel.  He has many years of experience playing with bands in South Louisiana, and also has experience as a sound engineer with some major bands in the area.  John is the master of laying down rhythmic bass patterns and grooves that allow The Dominos to have that classic 70's soul sound.

Brian Baker (Drums)

Brian comes from a multi-talented family of musicians.  Brian's dad Buck Baker had the well known band The Esquires.  Unlike his father who played sax, Brian followed in George Baker's footsteps and took up playing drums. Brian along with Buck Baker and George Baker where inducted in to the Louisiana Musicians Hall of Fame.  He has played with Touch, Risque, The Alley Cats, and Burgundy.  Brian joined The Dominos in 2012 and is a drummer that plays with passion and conviction while laying down the funk-filled groves that are associated with the New Orleans back beats.

Joey Milazzo (Saxophone and Vocals)

Joey began playing sax in middle school and continued studying music throughout high school.  Over the years Joey played with the End of the Road Band and Destiny of Louisiana.  His experience and talent in swamp pop and country, as well as contemporary pop music, adds another dimension to the variety of music performed by the band.  Joey is both a versatile and dynamic sax player, and lead and background vocalist who enjoys making great music with The Dominos.

Barry Landry (Musical Director, Saxophone and Vocals)

Barry, a native of Ponchatoula, started playing the church organ at the age of 10 and began playing saxophone in the high school band.  Since that time, he has worked in a number of bands with styles ranging from big band, society, variety, jazz, top 40 and much more.  His influences include Tower of Power and Manhattan Transfer, and his experience with choirs, horns, and keyboards adds a diverse dimension to the Dominos.  He writes all the background vocal, rhythm and horn arrangements.  And don't be surprised when you see him playing keyboards, bass or guitar.

Tim Villalobos (Trombone)

Tim is a second generation musician.  He studied music under his father Larry Villalobos, and is continuing in his father's footsteps obtaining a music degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.  Tim also performs throughout the New Orleans area in brass bands.  His raw ability to hear and arrange music adds a new dimension to The Dominos high powered horn section.  Tim enjoys being the youngest member of the band.

Chris Krueger (Trumpet)

Master Sergeant Christopher Krueger USMC (Retired) was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.  He started performing professionally at the age of 17 and toured Europe with the United States Collegiate Wind Ensemble in 1978.  After joining the U.S. Marine Corps, completing boot camp and the Armed Forces School of Music, he became a member of many Marine Corps bands during his tours of duty of over 27 years.  He has performed for President Ronald Reagan and at President Richard Nixon's funeral.  Chris is a talented trumpet player that has performed in many shows throughout the Gulf Coast.  As the newest member of The Dominos, he adds a new performance level to the horn section.

Ben Hastings (Sound Engineer)

Ben is a major contributor to the band's success.  He has over 25 years experience as a sound and recording engineer.  He has mixed sound for such big names as Guitarist Gregg Wright (Michael Jackson) and band members Leon Abner (Funkadelic Parliment drummer), Ron Battle (bass) from L.A., and Steve Houk (Mandrel Sisters, Connie Smith, Gary Baker) to name only a few.  Ben's experience is one of the main reasons for the great sounds of The Dominos.  He works days at the Suncoast recording studio, engineering and producing a wide variety of musical projects.
